Covid Indoor Policies and Mitigation Measures

Updated: March 3, 2022

Given the recent decline in Covid cases, hospitalizations, and deaths resulting from Covid-19 and the changes of local mandates in Durham County, Wake County, and Wake County Schools, it is now optional for both adults and children to use a mask at Trinity Park. However, those who desire to continue to use a mask are certainly encouraged to do so.

Trinity Park has consulted with Howard J. Walls, Ph.D. (aka Jeremy Walls) who is a member of the PCA and a regular attender of Trinity Park Church. He is also a practicing senior research engineer in the field of mitigating exposure to acute threat aerosols with 17 years of experience in the field and 13 patents in filtration and detection of threat aerosols. Jeremy donated his time and expertise to help us understand our HVAC system and to make any necessary adjustments to reduce the risk of virus particles being in the air.

The following insight and advice were given to us by Dr. Walls as he considered what we can do to mitigate the threat of Covid transmission in our new facility in a cost-effective way:

Our new facility is large enough to provide ample room for people to space out which will reduce the number of people per volume of air in the building.

Our new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system is state of the art. The system adjusts the amount of airflow and outdoor air in response to how many people are in a space thereby ensuring adequate ventilation. The HVAC system also provides efficient filtration of airborne particles. We have upgraded our unit filtration to MERV-13 filters which are recommended by ASHRAE (the professional society for indoor air quality and ventilation) and will provide for high removal of particles in the size range of greatest concern.

High-efficiency air-cleaning measures have also been provided for our youngest attenders by a generous donor to the church. The nursery and toddler’s classrooms now include an additional, stand-alone air cleaner with high-efficiency filtration to provide additional protection for our little ones.

We hope that these measures will encourage you to join us for in-person worship at Trinity Park soon.

Please continue to pursue unity as we move into this next transition. Please pray and strive for charitable judgments and allow the love of Christ to control you. We are one body of Christ and we have a great opportunity before us to move forward in unity in the Gospel of grace.
