I am not a numbers person, but it seems fitting to use concrete examples of God’s sovereignty as I describe our family’s church planting journey. It is rather baffling for the human mind to comprehend the extent of God’s omnipresence in every second of the day. Likewise, it is astonishing to acknowledge His omnipotence in all the intricacies each day brings. Yet the Holy Spirit affords us an incredible view - a hindsight if you will - of God’s presence in our lives. Three Perfect Persons of the Trinity. We are one family of four people who have been deeply touched by God’s workmanship at Trinity Park Church.
Matthew 28:19 - “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”
As I reflect on the last 10 years at Trinity Park, two distinctives stand out: servanthood and community. I clearly recall the conversation my husband Greg and I had when proposing the idea of church planting to our then 10 and 12 year old children. We tried to accurately explain what Sunday mornings would look like. We pointed out that there would be no Sunday school class nor youth group options. We described the laborious weekly process of setting up and taking down. When we finished narrating various case scenarios, both children agreed that our family should do it! Some 200 months later, I am so pleased we did. I could stop here and say that “the rest is history”, but there is so much more. Countless stories. Greg and I could not have anticipated the ways in which our children not only embraced Christ-like servitude, but also, the love of diverse people. Many nations. We saw Corey and Olivia’s vision and leadership come into fruition through our children’s real-time interactions with a genuine and beautiful body of believers who come from all corners of the world. Despite the lack of programs for our children in the early days of the church, Greg and I have never regretted following God’s leading to help plant Trinity Park Church.
Romans 12:5 - “...so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
When it comes to growing in faith, I would argue that the value of fellowship and worship with fellow believers is unrivaled. One of my fondest Sunday School memories came from studying the book of Acts with Corey. Along with the core group of church planting families, I recall diligently praying that our new little church could live in community much like the early church did. Ten years later, I can clearly see how TPC has been greatly blessed by welcoming so many families who fully engage in community life. As a result, Greg and I have grown in our faith in ways we could never have imagined.
Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
rinity Park Church officially launched on the 12th day of September 2010. For those who call the United States their homeland, 9/11 is forever marked as a day of mourning and loss. In contrast, those of us who have called Trinity Park a church home since its inception in 2010, consider the week of September 11th a celebration. What a sweet reminder that Jesus can bring peace, joy, and hope into absolutely any circumstance. God reigns all year long, for 12 months; 365 days; 8,760 hours; 525,600 minutes; 31,536,000 seconds.
To the One Redeemer be the glory forever and ever!
