Loving Our Neighbors - Andy Ew

Trinity Park exists to proclaim Christ in redemptive community among neighbors and nations. This has been the vision of the church since its inception and continues to be the driving force in all that we do. One of the silver linings from the pandemic was moving into our current building. After worshiping at a school for many years, it has been tremendously helpful to have a more permanent physical location of our own and to think more strategically about connecting with our neighbors.

As we settled into our new location, one of the first things we did as a church was to organize a prayer walk to pray for the communities around us.  We walked and prayed through the surrounding neighborhoods. We asked that God would direct and open our eyes to the needs of our community. It was very clear from our prayer walk that God was directing us to one particular neighborhood within a mile of our church. This community is ethnically diverse with many immigrants from different nations. Not only that, many of the apartments house multiple families and are struggling to meet basic needs. Therefore, we decided to partner with Raleigh Dream Center, a nonprofit organization that serves local communities within the greater Raleigh area. We were drawn to this gospel-centered organization, particularly their Adopt-A-Block ministry that not only provides tangible resources but also endeavors to share the gospel and to pray for people they serve. By serving regularly, the Adopt-A-Block ministry helps to build strong, lasting relationships and a way to speak the truth of Christ in the lives of people. This was certainly the desire of Trinity Park, and after months of preparation and participation in the Adopt-A-Block ministry, we decided to start our own Adopt-A-Block location here in Cary.

We launched our Adopt-A-Block ministry in September 2022. On the second Saturday of each month, rain or shine, volunteers from Trinity Park distribute groceries and knock on doors to invite residents to participate.  We engage in conversations and offer to pray with them and for their needs.  We play with kids and organize special seasonal events.

As we continue to serve this community, our hope is to connect residents to our church or to other local churches so that they will have greater opportunities to hear the gospel. Come join us in this simple and yet powerful way to love our neighbors in our community.
