Angus Macleod

Angus was born and raised just outside Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. He left school at the age of 15 to start an apprenticeship as an electrician, working throughout the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and eventually the rest of the United Kingdom. He worked mainly in heavy industry, first managing a team and then starting his own company. Things abruptly changed in January 2016, when he became a Christian after a long, stubborn journey to faith. This came after years of prayers from his grandmother, brother and many others. He was encouraged to start a Bible training course at Cornhill Scotland, linked with a one-year placement with Stirling Free Church and a two-year apprenticeship with Chalmers Church Edinburgh.

He then began a four-year undergraduate degree at Edinburgh Theological Seminary as a candidate for ministry with the Free Church of Scotland, a partner denomination of the PCA. This role took him to Haddington Community Church as a minister in training. Haddington is where he learned about his brothers and sisters in Cary who support and partner with this church in Scotland. This experience allowed him to grow in knowledge and serve others as a Christian, surrounded by a warm community and a faithful pastor.

Angus has visited America many times before, loves North Carolina, and is keen to explore all it offers. Angus has been involved in youth work since he became a Christian and is passionate about young people being able to examine Jesus, ask lots of questions and find their place in the church family. Growing up outside the church, he hopes that many youth would be invited into our church and shown Jesus. He is continually grateful and surprised at God choosing to save him and continuing to use him and is incredibly excited by this opportunity to serve at Trinity Park.
